Methods and Metaphors is a course being taught for the first time at Carnegie Mellon University in spring 2023. We evaluate a wide range of subjects/entities that can be both metaphors of design, as well as methods for designing.

We are a group of 13 students who collect every Tuesday night to pick through a breadth of curiosities to go in depth to understand. We believe that questioning the commonly forgotten can sometimes be our absolute best use of time. We believe that — be it for the sake of beauty, intrigue, or simply just humor — connections can be drawn between the weird and random to inform a more creative design practice.
